Voyager is a file explorer for Pocket PC's with several enhancements based on .NET technology.
The user needs to install the .NET Compact Framework before installing Voyager if not using Microsoft Windows Mobile 2003 or if the .NET Compact Framework is not already installed.
Features:This help sometimes uses the word "item" and this means "file" and/or "directory".
Using the "!" button (or double click, see Options) you can execute the current selected item. If a directory is selected this directory becomes the current directory. If a file is selected this file will be opened using the application which is associated with the file extension of this file (e.g. a ".docx" file will be opened with Word Mobile).
Differences to the 'Execute' menu item: If nothing is selected the entire list will be refreshed. If two or more items are selected only these items will be refreshed. Since Version 1.1 SP2 you also can use the File | Refresh menu item to refresh items.
The ".." button can be used going to the parent directory. If the current directory is the root directory ("\") this button does nothing.
For a quick access to a directory you've already "visited" you can use the drop down list on the left side ofthe "!" and ".." button. Since Version 1.1 you can configure a directory containing Favorites using Tools | Options > General > 'Favorites folder'.
Some menu items may be disabled when the execution of them does not make sense in the current situation (e.g. the 'Rename' menu item will be disabled when you have selected more than one file).
If you select one or more items and then tab and hold the stylus a context menu appears which gives you access to the most commonly used features.
There are two ways to select multiple items (ensure that the Multiple selection option is set):
Using the options dialog you can adjust the behavior and the look of Voyager to your needs.
Favorites Folder: Enter the name of an existing directory which contains shortcut (*.lnk or *.url) files which should be displayed in the Tools | Favorites menu. The extensions (.lnk or .url) will not be displayed in the favorites menu. The shortuct names must be unique. Directories are not displayed in the Favorites submenu. The menu items will be sorted in the same order as configured with View | Sort menu.
Full row select: If this option is enabled the entire row will be selected otherwise only filename is selected.
Multiple Selection: Allows that more than one item can be selected. Some features work only for single items others work also for multiple selected items. See also Selecting Items.
Show hidden files: If this option is enabled hidden files (files with the 'h' file attribute) are displayed. Info: If this option is enabled it takes a long time to open the '\Windows' directory. Usually it is not necessary to use this option.
Caption Mode: Determines the look (name) of the title bar. If you use a application switcher like "Switch" this name is also displayed by the application switcher. The following modes are available:
Show full name in status bar: Determines if the current selected file or directory is displayed in the status bar or not. This option is useful if you have long filenames and want them be displayed in the status bar. If this option is disabled the word "Ready" is displayed if Voyager is idle. While Voyager is changing a directory the directory name followed by "..." is displayed in the status bar.
Display attribute column: If this option is enabled an additional column is displayed in the file list. This column contains the file attributes. Here is a list of these file attributes:
Info
Special file attributes which are only displayed in the properties dialog: ROM, iPAQ file store.
Ask before closing: If you exit Voyager you will be asked if you really like to close Voyager ;-)
Warn before open \Windows: Opening the \Windows folder takes some time and this option warns you before opening this folder.
Improve performance for \Windows: If this option is enabled no system files will be displayed in the \Windows directory. Select this option + deselect 'Show hidden files' will improve performance dramatically!
Double click for 'Execute': If this option is enabled you can use a double click in order to open files and directories.
Display icons: Some users waited a long time for this feature and now (since Version 2.0) it is available! The default setting enables icons. Voyager also displays so called "indicators" if necessary. At the moment the following indicators are spported:
Info
If changing to the root directory Voyager internally recycles its icons cache which releases memory.
Keep file time: If decrypting or encrypting a file the file time will not be changed if this option is enabled.
Ask before clear password: Enabling this option you will be asked before you can clear the current password.
Voyager enables you to open files using any application (e.g. you may open a .txt file with Word Mobile or Pocket Notepad, MiniText or any other application you like to use).
Application: Using this drop down list you can choose which application to use for opening/executing the current file. You can use the Edit tab to add/remove/edit the list of applications.
Application executable: Displays the path + filename of the currently selected application.
Parameter: The current selected file. Some applications need quotation marks for their parameter and others do not allow them. This can be configured at the Edit tab.
Here you can add, remove and edit applications which can be used with the 'Execute With' command.
Browse for an application: Here is the current selected directory displayed.
Friendly name: Name of the application (appears in the Application drop down at the Execute tab. You have to provide this name (e.g. for iexplore.exe provide a string like 'Internet Explorer'). This name has to be unique in the application list.
Quotation marks: If this option is selected, quotation marks will be inserted for the parameter.
Using this file list you can browse to an application executable in order to add it to the application list. Use the following buttons to adding or removing or editing:
Tips
The MiniText text editor is able to view/edit UNICODE text files and is available at hfrmobile.com!
I recommend using a Registry editor and DeviceInfo to save/restore registry settings like Execute With settings. DeviceInfo is also available at hfrmobile.com!
Since Voyager Version 1.0 RC1 the CCrryyppttoo application is integrated into Voyager CCrryyppttoo is an application which can be used to encrypt and decrypt files.
Because of the critical nature of an encrypting and decrypting software I like to point to the disclaimer again:

Tip
Ensure that the correct password is used when you encrypt a file: Create a file (e.g. Password1.txt > 50 KB) and
encrypt it with your password. Use this file as a reference for all future encrypting and decrypting actions.
If you like to encrypt a file (e.g. MyFile.pxl) use the following procedure: If the password is not set use the
menu item 'File | CCrryyppttoo | Set password' to set your password. Then try to decrypt Password1.txt. If this
succeeds you know that you have typed in your password correctly. Encrypt Password1.txt again for later use. Now
encrypt your file (e.g. MyFile.pxl).
