Some time ago I decided to upgrade my development PC and so I bought a XPS M1710 DELL laptop (which was difficult, see my blog entry in German). Since I was forced to buy Vista I decided to use Vista Ultimate in English. I also bought Microsoft Office and some other software. This was an expensive way but so I thought that I'll get good stuff.

Maybe you remember the texts when XP is beeing installed. Flexible. Better. M$ promises the best OS. So Vista is even better:

My Fista "favorites":

Stupid File Explorer
- Random columns
- Random(!!) views (Details, Thumbnail etc.)
- Only changing security for a folder all archive bits are set (Hey, only security has changed but not the files!!)
- Was not able to rename a file (Access denied) - even security settings should allow this. But I was able to delete the file!
- TreeView not always synchrony with ListView
Some USB devices are not recognized (e.g. USB Data Link cable) or not supported
System hangs at Shutdown
System does not keep stand-by (turns on itself until battery is empty or crashes with BSOD)
Enter Stand-By: 15 Seconds (old DELL Latitude C810 with XP Professional: 2 Seconds)
Resume from stand-by takes longer (compared with old DELL Latitude C810 with XP Professional)
Sometimes USB devices are not recognized and need to reboot Vista so that it works again
Stupid WebDAV implementation (worked under XP but Vista also works but really stupid)
After Login/Unlock the screen gets black for a part of a second
Windows Media Player: Sometimes when starting .avi (DivX) Video only sound is played and WMP is not started...
Vista Ultimate was the one and only thing which had wrong time after daylight saving time (settings are correct!!; each other OS, clocks etc. where correct)
Sometimes TreeView in Explorer disappears (Restart necessary)
Sometimes File Explorer needs some seconds to view Files in ListView even there are only two files...
File properties on executable: No version information (worked on XP)
Mobile Device Center: Old device works. Wanted to connect another Pocket PC as guest which not worked. This action also destroyed other (working) relationship.
