Vocabulary file
A vocabulary file is just a text file with a special syntax. Vocabulary files have the
extension ".vok".
Syntax of a PocketVoc vocabulary file:
A word may also contain brackets which are treated correctly in a vocabulary training. The behavior how words are treated can be specified with the menu Options|Training options.
e.g. for the word Word(s) following answers are possible: Word, Words.
Comment lines, empty lines are ignored.
Syntax for a word:
xx
[*]xx[(xx[*]xx)]
The xx stands for any character (e.g. a-z, A-Z, Ä, Ü, Ö, â, Â, ...)
Note: Nested brackets are not supported. e.g. test(ab(cd)) is not valid! Correct would be: test, test(abcd), test(ab).
Syntax for a @Command:
@Commands
These commands enables you to specialize vocabulary files e.g. if you learn more
than one language. It is also possible to learn foreign words of your own
language, countries and their capitals etc.
Some samples of such specialized vocabulary files can be found in "PocketVocSamples (Version major.minor) (English).CAB".
CAUTION: In this version @Commands are still not supported (but it's sure that they come ;-))
Training options
Using the trainings option dialog you can setup some important settings for
your vocabulary trainings. Using this dialog is only
possible if there is no active training.
Training
The training dialog can be used to determine frequency and time limit for answering words.
Debit
With "Debit" you can specify how often the word must be answered correctly so that it can
dropped out from the training. If a answer was wrong you have to answer this word one more time. So
words are asked more frequently if you don't know them.
Max
The upper limit of Debit.
Attempts
Determines how many attempts you have to translate a word.
Time
Number of seconds you have to translate a word.
Settings
Using this dialog you can specify which text editor and viewer should be used to edit
or view vocabulary files. Default setting for both is notetake.exe (Note Taker). If
you specify another editor you may have to provide the whole path to the ".exe" file.
Further you can specify the name of languages you learn. If the @Commands @leftlang
and @rightlang are used in the current vocabulary file the values from the file
are used for some PocketVoc dialogs.
