Since I am still using the LOOX 600 I need to use a handy to connect to the internet (via Bluetooth or IrDA). BTW, I don't really know if the "GPRS Module"for the LOOX 600 was available in Europe but it was no solution for me anyway. | |
At the moment I am using the following "accessories" with my SP3i:
|
|
Previous devices: Nokia 8210, SE T68, SE T610 |
Info | Description |
Version | All information on this page is based on ROM Version 1.1.33.21 and WM 2003 SE Version 4.21.1088 (Build 14132) |

FAQ's | SP3i FAQs You have to be a registered user. Registration is only possible if you own an i-mate device (IMEI number). |
BH-005 | A "free speech" device using Bluetooth:
Worked but there where some troubles: The SP3i is not able to make voice calls while key and/or device lock are active. Further the SP3i does not support spoken incoming calls. The T610 supports that speech command is spoken if there was an incoming call - so it was not necessary to look at the phone if there was an incoming call. |
Cable headset | The cable headset (a bit disappointed that no Bluetooth
headset was included) works fine. If connected the SP3i automatically
detects it and sets the profile to "Headset". If disconnected
the profile is changed back to its previous setting.
This photo was made with the SP3i. |
Jabra BT110 | Bluetooth headset.
The only things which are not working are SP3i related:
Both things worked on T610! If you learned how to wear it (how to put it on your ear), its easy to use. I do not wear it all the time. Only
if there is an incoming call or I like to call someone I put it onto my right ear. |
IMEI | Type *#06# at the home screen and the IMEI number of your SP3i Smartphone will be displayed. |
Background image | Put an image file into the \storage\application data\home directory. |
Quicklist | Press the Home key for two seconds and the Quicklist will appear. |
Last screen | Press the Back key for two seconds and the last screen will appear. |
Quick commands | Press Power On/Off key shortly and some useful commands (like airplane mode etc.) will appear. |
Accented characters (e.g. é) | Within a text field (e.g. if writing a SMS) press the "*T9" button for one or two seconds and select "T9 French" in order to make this the default setting. Now you can press the key "3 (DEF)" four times and you'll get the é. |
Disconnecting from GPRS | Press and hold the "Home" key for 2 seconds and then select "Disconnect GPRS". This will stop the GPRS connection. CAUTION: In the German version this menu item has the name "Verbindung zu GPRS..." (so there is no information that it would disconnect GPRS). I assume that the whole name of this menu item is: "Verbindung zu GPRS beenden" or "Verbindung zu GPRS trennen". |
club i-mate | i-mate support forum is disappointing (does not work correctly for Firefox or IE6). Only sometime it works...!? The site makes me crazy... I login with my username and support site says Logged in as Guest. Of course there is no way to login at this time... Solution: Just add www.imate.com AND www.clubimate.com to trusted sites and it will work (only sometimes!)... or just try Clubimate Forums and then click i−mate device support. At the bottom of the appearing page you will have the possibility to login. This should be the proffered way otherwise you'll get the problems described above including that the i−mate site includes the club i−mate forum as frame which makes stupid scrolling, scrolling and scrolling necessary. |
Backlight issue | If an alarm occurs the backlight is not switched on. The only key which turns on the backlight in this case is the left soft-key "Close". Workaround: Press this key and hold it in order to be able to read what there is on the display. |
Bluetooth | The Bluetooth services that the SP3i with WM2003 SE provides is a bad joke!! |
IrDA | Works only sometimes! Sometimes transfer stops > 50% (depending on file size you like to transfer)... This is also a (bad) joke!! Think about this: If you use a remote control for your Video Player, DVD player etc. it JUST WORKS! But with SP3i...!? |
Charging Status | Battery state (charge status) is not displayed correctly if connected with USB cable: If connected is says that battery is charged 100%, if disconnected it says x% |
Menu sound clicks | Settings|Profiles>Edit: Set "System sound volume" to Off. Thanks to Richard W. for this information! |
Free speech | Enable "free speech" during an active call: Press "Call" button for 1-2 seconds. |
SP3i as modem (using GPRS) | Set phone number to *99# on your device (Laptop, Pocket PC etc.) in order to use the SP3i as modem using GPRS. Additional modem string: +cgdcont=1,"IP","gprsinternet" on your device. No further settings are required on the SP3i. I have tested this with my LOOX600 and it worked! |
